On 17th Aug, Chairwoman of Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc met Johannesburg delegation from South Africa, led by Chairwoman of City Council – Constance Bapela.
At the reception, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc expressed delightfulness with the Vietnam – South Africa relation, continuously being reinforced and developed, simultaneously, hoped the visit would initiate the cooperate tie between Ha Noi – Johannesburg.

Sharing about mutual concerned issues, representative of Johannesburg highly appreciated the Vietnam’s achievement to narrow the gender gap, hence, wished to learn and cooperate with Vietnam on this issue. Constance Bapela said Johannesburg was trying to speed up the attendance of female in society, economic and management.
Agreed with above suggestion, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc confirmed, though had not completed all the targets, the gender equalization campaign of Ha Noi as well as Vietnam made bounce steps during the past time. In detail, Vietnam Gender Equality Law has been put into force since 2007, beside other policies such as: requiring female account to at least 25% in government organ labor force’s, offering preferred loan with low interest rate for women doing business. Especially, Ha Noi Leader’s also positively enhanced women awareness on their role and position through channels like Ha Noi Women Association with attendance of 80% women in the capital.
Last but not least, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc expressed willingness to cooperate with Johannesburg on this field, besides, hoped that the city would assist Ha Noi in other various sides such as: urban management, environment, economics and trade. She also highly valuated the significant role of this Johannesburg delegation trip on fastening the tie between two cities in detail, Vietnam – South Africa relation in general.
Last but not least, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc expressed willingness to cooperate with Johannesburg on this field, besides, hoped that the city would assist Ha Noi in other various sides such as: urban management, environment, economics and trade.
