Hanoi push forward with tourism promotion and advertisement

In the first 7 months of 2017, tourists coming to Hanoi reached 14,025,687, up to 9% compared with the same period of last year. In order to attain the development objective in the remaining 5 months of 2017, Hanoi tourism will push forward with promotion and advertisement in both domestic and foreign markets.

According to Hanoi Tourism Department, in the first 7 months of 2017, foreign tourists coming to Hanoi reached 2,786,187, an increase of 19% in compared with the same period of last year (foreign tourists for long stay is 1,990,134, up to 17% year on year); local tourists is 11,239,500, increasing 6% in compared with last year. As such, the total revenue from tourism is 41,5 trillion VND (equivalent to 1,82 billion USD), up to 14% in compared with last year. These impressive results are evident to the development of Hanoi tourism, gradually becoming a spearhead economic sector in the economy. 

In order to achieve the objective of welcoming 23.6 million tourists, in which 4.3 million are foreign tourists., Hanoi tourism will push forward with promotion and advertisement in both domestic and foreign markets in the remaining 5 months of 2017. Specifically, the Hanoi Tourism Department will increase IT application in tourism management. On the other hand, the Department will continue cooperating with CNN in promoting Hanoi tourism, implementing free Wi-Fi at tourist attractions. Moreover, the public online service staged 3 will be applied for administrative procedures with regard to tourism.

In parallel with these efforts, Hanoi will also promote tourism through the participation in international tourism fair at new and prioritized markets, such as: participating in events under the National tourism day 2017; holding the 16th annual meeting of the Council for Promoting tourism in Asia (CPTA), participating in Tourism promotion organization for Asia pacific cities (TPO). Hanoi also cooperates and jointly organizes tourism exhibition and roadshow at Japan, America, France, China, England, Germany. 

On the other hand, Hanoi Tourism Department will propose to the Hanoi People’s Committee on the project of improving the quality of personnel responsible for maintaining and developing the Bat Trang ceramic Handicraft village and Van Phuc silk village. It is also the responsible of Hanoi Tourism Department in modifying and revising the master plan on Hanoi tourism development until 2020 with vision to 2030, as well as the master plan to develop Suoi Hai – Ba Vi area.

In particular, in the coming time, Hanoi will increase cooperation and linkage with enterprises, agencies and provinces with high potential for tourism development, in turn developing tours connecting Hanoi with other tourist destinations in both Vietnam and abroad. 

The Hanoi Tourism Department will organize training classes to improve tourism knowledge for community at site and staffs working at tourism resorts, with a view to increase service quality in related to tourism in Hanoi. Some other measures are considered as: improve communication skill and knowledge for tour guide; develop database on criteria and statistics on tourism; promoting civilized manner in tourism activities in Hanoi; cooperating with Vietnam women’s museum and international experts on creating logo and instruction at some tourist destination in Hanoi.
