Hanoi - Singapore to promote cooperation in various fields

On July 19, Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung had a meeting with Singaporean Senior Minister of State at the Prime Minister’s Office Josephine Teo.

At the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung informed about eight contents of cooperation drawn after the three-day visit to Singapore within the framework of World Cities Summit 2016 (WCS 2016).

These fields include: reorganizing urban green campus, public transport, integrating electronic bus tickets, applying information technology (IT) in crime prevention, applying IT in management system of database administration, improving medical facilities, attracting investments in real estate and transfering bridge technology and so on.

Especially in the urban landscape issues, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said that in the next 5 years, Hanoi is going to build 25 parks, plant 1 million trees, of which 150,000 plants in urban areas and 850,000 trees on the highway. Planting trees and improving urban renovation are the goals that Hanoi's leaders to concentrate on in the coming period.

Also at the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung informed about the accomplishments of the Capital in the first six months of the year with growth of 7.3% and 11% targets to strive in the last six months. Hanoi budget revenues rose by 19.2% in six months compared with the same period of last year and the government has established the basic economic development strategy for the period of 2016-2020.

With the policy of welcoming foreign investment, FDI of the first six months to the Capital reached nearly 2 billion USD, increased twice year-on-year, PPP investment increased more than 4 times compared to the period of 2011-2015, etc.

Expressing her impression on the accessibility to opportunities for cooperation, development plans implemented by Hanoi's leaders, Mrs Josephine Teo said that Singapore has always supported the investors operating in Vietnam. Local authorities need more incentives, specific policies for enterprises to ensure their benefits when investing in Hanoi.

Singaporean Senior Minister of State at the Prime Minister’s Office trusts that with the vision of the Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, the cooperation between Singapore and Hanoi Capital as well as Vietnam will reach high achievement. On her position, she insisted that she would become a bridge for active bilateral cooperation in the future.
