HN’s fifth ring road gets a nod

The PM has passed the master plan of a new ring road running through 36 districts of Ha Noi and seven provinces namely Hoa Binh, Ha Nam, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen and Vinh Phuc.

With over 330 kilometers long, this is the fifth ring road of Ha Noi with the surrounding provinces in the region.

It will have 41 kilometers overlapping the Noi Bai – Ha Long, Ha Noi – Thai Nguyen, Noi Bai – Lao Cai Highways and National Highway 3.

The US$ 4 billion project is scheduled to finalize in 2020 with either four and six lanes.

The move came following the approval of master plans for the Ha Noi region and the development of Viet Nam’s highway system.

Ring Road No.1 mainly consists of Ha Noi's old streets, running from Nhat Tan to Buoi streets.

Ring Road No. 2 is a circle transport line with a total width of 43.6 kilometers from Vinh Thuy-Minh Khai-Dai La-Nga Tu Vong – Truong Chinh – Nga Tu So – Lang – Cau Giay – Buoi – Nhat Tan – Vinh Ngoc – Dong Noi – Gia Lam – Vinh Tuy.

The 65-km Ring Road No. 3 combines Soc Son, North Tu Liem, South Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Hoang Mai, Gia Lam Dong Anh urban districts.

The 136.6-km Ring Road No. 4 runs through 16 districts, functioning as a highway in order to ease traffic flow from national highways 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 32 and the Thang Long Boulevard.
