Israel Book Day kicks off in Hanoi

Hanoi - On July 16, Israel Book Day, the first of its kind, opened on Hanoi book street as part of celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-Israel diplomatic ties (July 12).

The event was co-hosted by the Omega Plus Books company, Alpha Books company and the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Omega Plus Books company Vo Trong Dai said the event is a continuation of activities to foster ties and mutual understanding between the two countries.
According to Vo Trong Dai, Vietnamese readers are interested in Israel and Jewish ethnic group so that a number of books featuring different topics from the country’s history and economy to culture and education have been published in recent years.
Vietnamese book-lovers was have a chance to learn about the diversity of Israeli culture and literature during Israel Books Day for the first time at Hanoi Book Street (19/12 Str.). On display are more than 100 valuable materials about Israel and Jewish people published in Vietnamese, English and Hebrew languages.
On the occasion, the book “Con duong thoat han” (Let there be water) was presented to the departments of natural resources and environment and a seminar on Vietnam-Israel cooperation was held.

In addition, the book “Sapiens: a brief history of humankind” by Yuval Noah Harari - New York Times Bestseller and reading pick for Barack Obama, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg Summer and “Two halves of friendship” by Susie Morgenstern also made debut at  Women Museum (36 Ly Thuong Kiet Str.).
