This annual event is launched by the Italian Foreign Ministry with the aim of exchanging design experiences between the two countries.
The Italian Design Day in Hanoi will open with a conference focused on the relationship between design and sustainability, with particular reference to architecture.
Earlier, on March 11, a workshop was held to discuss how to conserved the city's design. The workshop focused on the the landscape and future of the Hanoi Old Quarter. On March 20, another seminar will be held by the Italian embassy in Hanoi at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long with a focus on the strategies, techniques and technologies to preserve historical sites.
According to Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonino Alessandro, the event is part of a program related to Southeast Asia’s most important cities. It aims to contribute ideas on developing Hanoi into a smart city.
During a meeting with Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on January 15, Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro asked the city to facilitate the organization of the two events to ensure their success.
In 2018, the second Italian Design Day under the theme “Italy and Vietnam look towards sustainable designs” was held at the Italian Language Faculty of Hanoi University.
The contest drew the participation of professors, engineers and representatives from Italian and Vietnamese companies specialized in architect and engineering. The event focused on sustainability and environmental friendliness.
