Journalistic works on women's empowerment chosen for contest's final round

The Women`s Empowerment Journalism Award 2015 has selected 19 journalistic works for its final round in the Asia Pacific Region.

"Doi Quan Ao Dai Tren Bien Dong" from the Viet Nam People's Public Security Television Channel (ANTV), a report about women in a fishing village in the southernmost province of Ca Mau, was one of the chosen works.
Diageo, the organiser of the award, said this was the second time the award contest had been held in the region.
Last year, the annual award competition attracted journalists from 11 nations and territories. This year, 18 countries are taking part, including Viet Nam, Australia, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos and Singapore.

The 19 works chosen for the final round are from well-known TV channels, newspapers and wire services like the South China Morning Post, AFP (Agence France Presse), AP (Associated Press), Republica National Daily, Thomson Reuters and Sydney Morning Herald.
The contest is part of Diageo's community campaign called "Plan W-Empowering Women Through Learning".
The company has committed US$10 million for activities in Asia Pacific, with nearly $800,000 of that amount allocated from 2013 to 2017 for activities to help Vietnamese women raise their voices in society and to enhance gender equality in the country.
