Minister of Transport apologies for mislanding plane of Vietjet Air

The Minister affirmed that VietJet Air’s mistake was an extremely serious incident, causing direct effect on aviation safety.

Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang has offered his apologies for the mistake landing by the local private airline VietJet Air’s flight VJ 8861 on June 19.

He requested all agencies, enterprises and individuals involved to strictly learn from the case. 
The Minister also gave a reprimand to Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) Lai Xuan Thanh for lately informing the case. 
At about 5:10 pm on June 19, nearly 200 passengers who bought air tickets for a flight from Hanoi to the Central Highlands city of Da Lat went aboard Vietjet Air flight VJ 8861. 
After that, the passengers were shocked to learn the Airbus plane landed at the Cam Ranh airport near the beachside city of Nha Trang in the central province of Khanh Hoa . 
Right after the incident, Vietjet Air arranged another flight to bring the passengers to Da Lat. They arrived at the Lien Khuong airport in the highlands city at 9:50 pm the same day.
With regard to the case, the CAAV has suspended four flight planners and all crew members of the flight for failing to work in accordance with the standard flight operation process pending further investigation. 
Minister Thang ordered the CAAV to intensify supervision of VietJet Air.
