In 2016, Hanoi will boost dissemination and raise awareness of traffic regulations via mass media, schools and social organisations.
It is one of nine key tasks that Hanoi's Steering Committee of the Public Order and Urban Civility will implement in 2016 to facilitate public order and urban civility.
The campaign with the aim of facilitating public order and urban civility has also concentrated on refining the behaviours of Hanoians. The campaign's Steering Committee has penned the motto "Easy to understand, remember and implement."
The Committee said this year's tasks aim to improve the lifestyle of local residents by making changes in communication, behaviour, traffic, Government offices and public culture.
First, the Committee will strengthen dissemination and raise awareness of traffic regulations via mass media, schools and social organisations.
Besides, the authorities of four central districts are asked to hang posters advertising the strict violations.
Secondly, the city will re-examine the procedure for granting construction site licences and advertising boards in public areas.
Third, in oder to reduce traffic jams, the capital of Hanoi will regulate the traffic on main roads during rush hour.
Fourth, the city will check and repair untidy pavements covered with rocks, gravel, water pipes and electric wires.
In addition, temporary markets and shops that encroach upon pavement and streets will be relocated.
Fifth, Hanoi will re-plant flowers and trees in public areas and strenghthen the management and preservation of parks and public gardens across the city.
Sixth, the masses will be mobilised in an anti-littering campaign, which will send additional trucks to collect the rubbish.
Seventh, Hanoi will repair the public lighting system and replacing all lights with light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs.
Eighth, in 2016, the city targets to improve the management of newly-built roads.
Ninth, this year , Hanoi will complete the building an underground power cable network on 200 streets in four central districts.
