The 2014 old books festival has been held at No.176 Thai Ha Street, Dong Da district, Hanoi by Alpha Books from November 29 to 30.
The event aims to create an useful playground for readers who love old books, and a connecting space for individuals and businesses selling old books nationwide.
The program is expected draw participations of Old Bokks of Hanoi, Old Books, Book Sale,etc.
Particularly, Hanoi library and information center (under The Ministry of Education and Training) has showcased its books during the event.
Books which are highly evaluated by collectors have been auctioned at the event this time.
Besides, the units participating in the program has introduced readers to many other precious books such as War and Peace translated by Nguyen Hien Le in 1968, etc.
It is estimated that 50% of the proceeds from the auction will be used by the organizer to purchase books to contribute to a library of Lac Son A High school (Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province).
Besides trading activities, the exchange of old books, exchange programs, talking with scholars who are famous for collecting old books and newspapers in Hanoi such as lawyer Ta Thu Phong, translator Dinh Ba Anh, Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh,etc, have taken place on November 29.
Under the framework of the program, the organizers have also created a space to donate old books to help Lac Son A High School build bookshelves.
The organizers said that they would maintain the active program annually to connect readers and old books lovers.
