From July 10 - 12, high-level delegation led by Hanoi People`s Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung attended World Cities Summit 2016 (WCS 2016) in Singapore.

With the theme of "Liveable City and Sustainability: Opportunities for creative cities", WCS 2016 focused on discussing measures to address urban challenges through innovative solutions as well as how the governance process and tools can be applied, enabling the innovation and development in order to create opportunities for people as well as the private sector together building innovative solutions and integrated urban for a better future and sustainable living. At the session of the WCS 2016, the Hanoi delegation has made an important contribution to address long-term challenges to be faced such as housing problems, environmental pollution, traffic congestion, economic development and sustainability, that are highly appreciated in the conference.
On the sidelines of WCS 2016, City Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung met with Singaporean Minister of National Development Lawrence Wong to discuss measures to promote cooperation. In particular, at the meeting with the Mayor of Seoul City (South Korea) Park Won Soon on July 10, two City leaders pledged to strengthen cooperation in the fields of e-government, information technology, telecommunications, management and response to floods; expand cooperation to the field of culture and education in the future, to bring relations to a new height. In the framework of the 20th anniversary of the two cities on August 2, Hanoi will send a delegation to Seoul to organize exchanges, learn from the development experience of Seoul, to create a basis for cooperation. At the meeting, the Mayor of Seoul also expressed his desire that the two Cities will expand cooperation in the fields of culture, education, training, people exchanges.
In the session of the WCS 2016 and the meeting with enterprises, City Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung emphasized the message that Hanoi will create favorable conditions for partners so that Hanoi can become the investment and tourist attractions. According to the City Chairman, Hanoi will implement strong commitment to improving the investment climate, in order to realize the expectation that strengthening closer cooperation, as well as building partnerships for mutual development with international friends to quickly develop into a dynamic, efficient and competitive City in the region and the world.
