PM Nguyen Tan Dung made that statement at a meeting reviewing the military and national defense affairs on December 23.
The PM suggested the military bring into full play their achievements and overcome shortcomings to consult the Party and State on military and national defense works.

The force needs to cooperate with other functional agencies to guarantee political security and social safety and order as well as mastering modern equipment and technologies.
PM Dung asked for accelerating the development of the national defense industry in order to enhance the national defense, self-defense and militant capacities.
The military force must help citizens promote economic, cultural, educational, and health care development, and new rural area establishment.
It needs to work as a main force in search and rescue and national calamity prevention, the PM required, adding that the force continues to realize the national defense diplomacy work to establish a peaceful, sustainable, and friendly environment for national development.
