PM Dung receives Norwegian Crown Prince

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung welcomed the visiting Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon Magnus in Hanoi on March 19.

At the reception, Dung said Vietnam will work with Norway to improve bilateral cooperation in a practical and effective manner while affirming Vietnam’s willingness to allow Norwegian businesses to do long-term business in the country.

Dung informed the Norwegian guest about Vietnam’s target of becoming an industrialized country by 2020 while improving people’s living standards and copying with climate change and rising sea levels.

To realise the goals, Vietnam needs more cooperation and assistance from the international community, he said, adding that the country desires for further coordination with Norway  to boost economics, trade and investment between the two countries.

The Government leader thanked Norway for its ODA provision and asked it to maintain this assistance to help Vietnam in climate change adaptation and environmental protection.

He said he hopes Norway will accelerate the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations.

Crown Prince Haakon highlighted the fruitful cooperation between the two nations over the past 40 years which have delivered benefits to both sides.

He said Norway attaches high importance to strengthening its partnership with Vietnam, suggesting both sides increase cooperation in economics, trade, investment, education, tourism and culture.
