He hailed international organisations and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations for successfully hosting the conference, and believed that the event will once again raise voice demanding an end to the embargo against Cuba and calling for continued support to the Caribbean country.
President Sang took the occasion to affirm Vietnam’s consistent solidarity and support to Cuba’s fight for justice, and stated he is convinced that Cuba will score more achievements on the way forward.
On behalf of five Cuban patriotic soldiers who were once detained by the US, Antonio Guerrero Rodriguez thanked international friends, including Vietnam, for their efforts to get the US to lift trade embargo on Cuba and release the five soldiers.
The delegates described Vietnam and Cuba as a source of inspiration for global movements on solidarity to fight poverty and social injustice, adding that international solidarity is crucial to developing a world community of peace and social progress.
Kenia Serrano Puig, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, stated that solidarity and friendship between the two countries over the past 55 years will be further strengthened.
