At the meeting with Patriarchs Tep Vong and Bour Kry, President Sang said cooperation between Buddhists of the two countries contributes to strengthening bilateral friendship and solidarity.
Sang stressed that the two countries have a large number of Buddhists who plays an important role in social life. In addition, Vietnam and Cambodia, as close neighbours, have a tradition of supporting each other, especially in difficult situation.
He hoped that the two Great Supreme Patriarchs will further contribute to fostering solidarity and friendship ties.
Visiting Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Hospital, President Sang asked Vietnamese and Cambodian doctors and nurses to promote solidarity and cooperation and share professional experience to make the hospital’s operation a success.
Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Hospital is a joint venture facility that has been operating since January, 2014, providing free medical services for 1,500 poor patients in Phnom Penh. The hospital is working with Ho Chi Minh City’s Health Department to offer eye surgery to 100 others.
Meeting representatives from the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Cambodia (AVIC), Sang congratulated the Vietnamese business community which has invested in 128 projects in Cambodia with a combined capitalisation of nearly US$3.36 billion making Vietnam the fifth largest investor in Cambodia.
Sang asserted that the success of Vietnamese businesses helps to tighten the traditional ties between the two countries.
He received proposals relating to the completion of procedures to make the two countries’ investment protection and promotion agreement formally effective, the early signing of an agreement on double taxation avoidance, and the further amending of an agreement on goods and services exchanges at border areas.
Sang underscored that the Vietnamese Party, State and Government will will adopt measures and strategies to facilitate Vietnamese stable and long-term investments in Cambodia for mutual and equal benefit.
He asked Vietnamese businesses to make further efforts to improve and expand their operations and strictly follow Cambodian laws and customs, contributing to Cambodia’s social welfare, job generation and poverty reduction and enhancing the traditional ties of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
