He stressed the need to strengthen political trust, maintain senior meetings and visits, boost people-to-people exchange – especially between younger generations, and speed up the implementation of agreements and common perceptions reached between the two countries’ leaders in order to contribute to deepening the friendship, mutual understanding and trust between Vietnam and China.
Regarding maritime issues, the Vietnamese State leader stated that the recent situation at sea has become increasingly complicated, worrying countries both within and outside the region.
He asked the two countries to control disputes, avoid actions that complicate or expand conflicts, work together to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea and speed up cooperation projects in line with international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS).
The Chinese leader thanked the Vietnamese State President for attending celebrations of the 70th anniversary of victory over fascism during World War II, saying that developing the two countries’ relations is in accordance with the basic interests of their peoples and benefits peace, stability and development in the region.
Both leaders agreed to intensify bilateral political ties; carry out reached agreements in economics, trade and investment; and work together to address disputes satisfactorily.
On the same day, the Vietnamese State leader visited the Vietnamese Embassy in China.
