Statement on joint vision of Vietnam-Japan relationship
At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong has paid official visit to Japan from September 15 - 18.
During the visit, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong met with the King of Japan, held talks with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and met with political, economic, social Japanese leaders.
On the basis of the achievements gained and the common strategic vision of the potential cooperation and future relationship between Vietnam and Japan, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has adopted the Statement on common vision of Vietnam-Japan to comprehensively promote and deepen the strategic partnership relations between Vietnam and Japan, for Peace and Prosperity in Asia.

Vietnam affirmed that Japan continues to be its leading and long-term partner while Japan said it treasures Vietnam’s position in its foreign policy in Asia-Pacific.
The two countries asserted their determination to promote their all-round relationship across the board in the interests of their people to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.
Earlier, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe witnessed the signing of six cooperation agreements following their talks the same day.
The documents include a medium and long-term vision on Vietnam – Japan agricultural cooperation, a diplomatic note on providing more than 28.6 billion JPY worth of official development assistance for Vietnam, and another one providing a 200 billion JPY non-refundable aid for Vietnam’s maritime safety, in the 2015 fiscal year.
Others include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the United Nations peacekeeping mission between the two Defence Ministries, a MoU on establishing partnership to combat trans-national crime and develop joint cooperation between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Japan Coast Guard, and a MoU on workforce development in mechanical engineering between the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
During the visit, the two sides signed cooperation documents between ministries, branches and enterprises of the two countries.
