The Prime Minister has signed a decision on the establishment of a National Steering Committee for International Integration.
The committee headed by PM Nguyen Tan Dung consists of three other deputy heads- Vu Van Ninh, Vu Duc Dam and Pham Binh Minh.
The National Steering Committee has three inter-agency steering commissions.
The commission responsible for politics, national security and defense is headed by the Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh.
The commission for international economic integration is led by Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh while the commission for international integration in terms of culture, social affairs, science, technology and education-training is headed by Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam.
The National Steering Committee has four permanent members including the Director of the Government Office, the Foreign Minister, the Minister of Industry and Trade and the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Eight other members are leaders from the Ministries of Public Security, Planning and Investment, Finance, Justice, Science and Technology, Education and Training and Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Steering Committee is tasked to help the Prime Minister devise orientations, strategies and solutions for international integration and propose key tasks for international integration in each period.
It assists the Government and the Prime Minister to direct ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies and provincial and municipal People's Committees to effectively implement major policies and guidelines for international integration.
The Committee is also required to summarize periodical reports on the implementation of international integration tasks and other duties assigned by the PM to report them to the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Government and the Prime Minister.
