The spouse of the US Vice President, Jill Biden visits Temple of Literature
The spouse of the United States Vice President, Jill Biden and State President Truong Tan Sang’s wife Mai Thi Hanh visited Van Mieu (Temple of Literature) in Hanoi on July 20 during her trip to Vietnam.
National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh’s wife Nguyen Thi Nguyet Nga accompanied the two spouses.
State President Truong Tan Sang’s wife briefed her guest on the founding and development of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam - the first university of Vietnam.
Hanh informed the US Vice President’s spouse of Vietnam’s efforts to ensure the rights of women as well as its achievements in the field.
She expressed her thanks for the US’s support to Vietnam’s education and training sector, and wished that
the two sides would boost cooperation in education and issues related to women and gender equality.
Biden then visited an orphanage in the capital city before leaving for HCM City.
