Toulouse, Hanoi strengthen to cooperate in urban development

France`s Toulouse city and the capital of Hanoi have jointly implemented the deployment of public policies to adapt the climate change by reducing the emissions that caused the greenhouse effect and the energy consumption.

Since 1996, cities of Hanoi and Toulouse have been cooperating in the field of protecting and promoting the values ​​of the city's Old Quarters.
In the past years, this friendly relationship has been constantly enhanced with the exchanges expansion in the fields of culture, economy and sustainable development.

The bilateral cooperation in urban development issues has been carried out since 2012 with the project of "Ton Duc Thang - Nguyen Trai urban plan".
Besides, a new cooperation agreement between Hanoi capital and Toulouse city was signed in 2014 on the occasion of Hanoi's cultural week in Toulouse held in the framework of  " Vietnam - France Year" programme.
The new agreement focuses on the two key fields.
Firstly, the two cities study on the transportation modes in the Old Quarters called the "36 streets" region, especially the deployment of traffic management plan to reduce densities.
Second, the agreement will continue to implement the project of "Ton Duc Thang - Nguyen Trai urban plan". Paricularly, under the project, clean vehicles will be get more priorities over private cars in sharing public space.
