Vietnam and Italy cooperate to prevent corruption

Vietnamese and Italian inspection officials overhauled a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) on corruption prevention for the signing of the document by 2016 at a recent meeting in Rome.

During the event, Inspector General Huynh Phong Tranh briefed on Vietnam’s socio-economic situation as well as its Party and State’s policies on inspection, administrative complaint settlement and corruption prevention . Tranh also answered queries raised by officials from Italy’s National Anti-Corruption Authority on the functions and tasks of Vietnam’s Government Inspectorate on corruption prevention.

Welcoming the visit made by the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate delegation, Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Authority Parisi Nicoletta affirmed that information and experience of Vietnam in this field are helpful to Italy as the agency was set up only more than one year ago.

During its stay, the Vietnamese delegation also met representatives from the state management council on administrative complaints and the State General Accounting Department, during which the two sides exchanged views on administrative complaint settlement in order to better administrative procedure reform in each country.  Tranh said that the Government Inspectorate has to date signed cooperation agreements with 14 anti-corruption agencies of foreign countries. The signing of the MoU with Italy in 2016 is significant to boost collaboration between the two agencies and enhance relations between the two countries.
