Vietnam, Israel ink security cooperation deals

Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and Israel’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) have announced the recent signing of two important cooperation agreements pertaining to inland security and protection of confidential information.

MPS Deputy Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Dang Van Hieu and MoD Director-General Maj. Gen. Dan Harel signed the two memorandums of understanding during Hieu’s visit to Israel from March 21-24.

Hieu met with the Minister of Public Security, Lieut. Gen. Yitzhak Aharonovitch, to discuss matters related to increasing comprehensive cooperation and plans for implementing the newly signed security documents.
He handed over a draft document on crime fight cooperation to the host, and proposed measures to boost cooperation between the two ministries in network security, trans-crime prevention, drug-related crime, human trafficking, illegal immigration, and crime related to citizens from both countries.

During their stay in Israel, the Vietnamese delegation visited some MoD-run companies to gain a better understanding of products and technologies to manufacture equipment and tools for security work.

They also visited the Israel Police Counter Terrorism Unit and Forensic Science Institute.
