Vietnam names first ten ambassadors of occupational skills

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs appreciated contributions of the new ambassadors of vocational skills in the field of job training over the past time.

The General Department of Vocational Education under Vietnam's Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) has announced the country's first ten ambassadors of occupational skills who have won many world and ASEAN skills contest, the Government Portal reported.

According to the Director of the General Department of Vocational Education Truong Anh Dung, the model of ambassador of occupational skills has been developed successfully for many years in the UK, Germany, South Korea, and Australia.

“Based on international experience and local practices, the General Department of Vocational Education has selected the skilled and experienced candidates to participate in skills contests in the world and Southeast Asia. They have the passion and ability to convey the values ​​of excellent professional skills to young people,” Dung said.

In the coming time, the department will continue to select highly qualified workers who have a certain influence on society to be appointed as ambassadors of occupational skills.

On behalf of the first ten ambassadors of occupational skills, Nguyen Duy Thanh, the first Vietnamese who won a bronze medal at the World Skills Contest 2018, said that the title “ambassador of vocational skills” has stimulated him to spread and impart knowledge about occupational skills to young people, thereby they will have the right orientation of occupational skills.

Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Quan appreciated contributions of the new ambassadors of vocational skills in the field of job training over the past time.

“Hopefully, in the time ahead, ambassadors of vocational skills will use personal influence to inspire young people in the field of job training, thereby contributing to helping young people have an accurate understanding of vocational training and career making,” Quan said.
