Vietnam presents the friendship insignia to Lao Ambassador

Deputy Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong presented the insignia “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” to the outgoing Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Somphone Sichaleune in Hanoi on September 18.

The insignia “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” presented to Ambassador Somphone Sichaleune is to recognise his contributions to enhancing the two countries’ relations.

During his tenure in Vietnam, the bilateral relationship was consolidated and developed significantly, as reflected through the success of celebrations of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year, the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, and the 35th anniversary of signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty in 2012.
Collaboration in politics, economics, trade, culture, and education has seen strong progress.
Addressing the ceremony, Don Tuan Phong, Deputy Chairman and General Secretary of the VUFO attributed the great achievements in bilateral ties over the past four years to tireless efforts made by the ambassador.
Ambassador Somphone Sichaleune said that he is honoured to receive such a noble reward of the VUFO.
The diplomat vowed to continue working to boost the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.
