Vietnam priotizes cooperation with Japan

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has expressed Vietnam’s wish to forge the friendship and all-sided cooperation with Japan, considering this one of the top priorities in the country’s external policy.

At a January reception for Chairwoman of the Japanese Committee for Foreign Affairs and Defence Katayama Satsuki in Hanoi,  Hai said he was happy to see the Vietnam-Japan growing in a multitude of fields- politics, economics, culture, education, science-technology and national defence-security.

“Both nations elevated their relations to a bilateral strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia in 2014. Bilateral cooperation has blossomed since the two countries established diplomatic ties.

Japan is an important partner of Vietnam in economics, and the biggest official development assistance (ODA) provider, adding that the bilateral economic links have significantly to Vietnam’s socio-economic development and delivered benefits to Japanese businesses,” Hai told his host.

He said he hopes the two countries will bolster trade and investment links in the future as they are jointly realizing the industrialisation strategy and making progress in regional economic connection such as the establishment of an ASEAN Community and the negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP).

For her part, Katayama Satsuki said her nation always supports Vietnam in carrying out infrastructure and energy projects, and continues ODA provision for the country’s sustainable development.

She said she hopes the Vietnamese Government will facilitate Japanese firms’ investments and operations, as well as their coordination in other fields such as infrastructure building, human resources training, support industry, and agriculture.

The same day, the Japanese guest was also received by a number of Vietnamese NA leaders.
