During the reception for Lao Minister of Planning and Investment Suphan Keomisay in Ha Noi, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the point thatMinistries of planning and investment of Vietnam and Laos should work to foster the two countries’ economic links in key sectors – trade, finance & banking, transportation and energy.

The host leader hailed the fruitful outcomes of the bilateral cooperation in multiple fields, including politics, defense-security, people-to-people exchange, economics, investment, and education and culture, in recent years. He also thanked the Lao Government for offering incentive policies for Vietnamese investors in Laos and helping them resolve difficulties. The Prime Minister stressed the important role the two ministries of planning and investment play in enhancing the bilateral partnership, suggesting they should exchange experience in policy making, macroeconomic stabilisation, inflation control and public investment management.
For his part, Minister Xuphan Keomixay briefed the host leader about the working outcomes with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Chi Dung in which the two sides agreed to boost cooperation in multiple fields and work together to push ahead their investment projects. Mr. Xuphan Keomixay announced that Laos is amending a series of important laws especially on investment encouragement and public investment which are expected to offer more favorable ways for foreign investors including Vietnamese ones.
PM Phuc affirmed that Viet Nam would spare no effort to support Laos in national development; spur the bilateral ties; and work closely at regional and international forums. He also welcomed the recent agreements between the two Ministers of Planning and Investment and proposed them to promote consultations for respective Governments on institutional building.
