Vietnam's business formations in April hit highest YTD

In the first four months of 2019, Vietnam has seen a total of 43,305 enterprises registered for new establishment with registered capital of a combined VND542.4 trillion (US$23.3 billion), up 4.9% in quantity and 31.7% in registered capital year-on-year, respectively.
The number of newly-established enterprises in April reached 14,854, the highest compared to the three previous months, with registered capital of VND167 trillion (US$7.17 billion), according to the General Statistics Office.
This resulted in an increase of 19% in the number of enterprises and 30.3% rise in registered capital month-on-month.
In the first four months of 2019, Vietnam has seen a total of 43,305 enterprises registered for new establishment with registered capital of a combined VND542.4 trillion (US$23.3 billion), up 4.9% in quantity and 31.7% in registered capital year-on-year, respectively.
Average registered capital per newly-established enterprise reached VND12.5 billion (US$537,000), up 25% year-on-year. If including VND872 trillion (US$37.46 billion) of additionally capital pumped by operational enterprises, the total registered capital added to the economy in the first four months of 2019 was VND1,414.4 trillion (US$60.76 billion).
Most of the newly-established enterprises are in the fields of wholesale, retail sale, automobile repair with 16,100 enterprises (accounting for 37.2%), up 14% year-on-year; construction 5,800 (13.3%), up 1.8%; manufacturing and processing 5,500 (12.7%), up 8.3%; science, technology, consultancy, design, advertising and others 3,600 (8.4%), up 13.5%, among others.
Besides, 17,463 enterprises resumed operation, a rise of 52.6% against the similar period last year, bringing the total number of newly-registered and revived enterprises in the four-month period to nearly 60,800.
Total number of laborers of newly-established enterprises in the January - April period was 449,100, an increase of 35.2% against the same period last year, according to the government-run agency.
The number of enterprises temporarily ceasing operation in the period was 16,984, up 19.7% year-on-year. Moreover, the number of enterprises which finished the procedures for bankruptcy in the first four months of this year was 5,305, an increase of 12.9% from the same period last year, of which there were 4,793 enterprises with capital base of less than VND10 billion (US$429,380), accounting for 90.3% and growing by 11.6%.
