Vietnam's business formations in Q1 increase 6.2% y/y to over 28,450

If including VND722.5 trillion (US$31.14 billion) of additional capital pumped by operational enterprises, the total registered capital added to the economy in the first three months of 2019 was VND1,098 trillion (US$47.33 billion).

In the first three months of 2019, Vietnam has seen a total of 28,451 enterprises registered for new establishment with registered capital of a combined VND375.5 trillion (US$16.18 billion), according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

This resulted in an increase of 6.2% in the number of enterprises and 34.8% rise in registered capital compared with the same period of 2018.

Average registered capital per newly-established enterprise reached VND13.2 billion (US$569,078), up 26.9% year-on-year. If including VND722.5 trillion (US$31.14 billion) of additionally capital pumped by operational enterprises, the total registered capital added to the economy in the first three months of 2019 was VND1,098 trillion (US$47.33 billion). 

Most of the newly-established enterprises are in the fields of wholesale, retail sale, automobile repair with 10,600 enterprises (accounting for 37.4%), up 15.4% year-on-year; manufacturing and processing 3,600 (12.7%), up 10.7%; construction 3,800 (13.4%), up 5.6%; science, technology, consultancy, design, advertising and others 2,400 (8.3%), up 17.3%, among others.

Besides, 15,050 enterprises resumed operation, a rise of 78.1% against the similar period last year, bringing the total number of newly-registered and revived enterprises in the three-month period to nearly 43,500.

Total number of laborers of newly-established enterprises in first three months of 2019 was 317,600, an increase of 40.9% against the same period last year, according to the government-run office.

The number of enterprises temporarily ceasing operation in the period was 14,761, up 20.8% year-on-year. Moreover, the number of enterprises which finished the procedure for dissolution in the first three months of this year was 4,116, an increase of 23.9% from the same period last year, of which there were 3,737 enterprises with capital base of less than VND10 billion (US$429,380), accounting for 90.8% and growing by 23%.
