VN is important trade partner: South African ambassador

South African ambassador to Viet Nam Kgomotso Ruth Magau has affirmed that Viet Nam is an important trade partner of her country in Asia.

She made the statement at an April 23 ceremony held by her Embassy in Ha Noi to mark the 20th Anniversary of South Africa’s FreedomDay (April 27).

The ambassador said that both countries have incessantly strengthened their friendship, sought cooperation opportunities and promoted all-round cooperative potential, particularly in commerce and industry.

The anniversary is the first celebratory event held since President Nelson Mandela, who symbolized the African nation and left a sacred heritage of a peaceful and unified country, passed away, said Magau.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat stressed that Viet Nam was delighted at important achievements which South African people gained in their national construction and development.

From a country devastated by the apartheid, South Africa has become a developed country in Africa under the leadership of the African National Congress (ANC).

With strengths in finance, trade, science, technology, natural resources and diversified culture, South Africa will achieve greater outcomes, contributing to regional and international peace and stability, Phat said.
