Artists performing puppetry, lion dance and other forms of street art wowed thousands of Hanoi Autumn Festival public on the morning of October 1.

On October 1, the Hanoi Autumn Carnival, part of the Hanoi Autumn Festival, was held in a lively and colorful way in the pedestrian area of Hoan Kiem Lake.

Up to 1,500 people, who are municipal civil servants, students, members of art groups and craftsmen from all over the city, joined a morning parade.

Held under the theme "Bright Colors of Autumn", the festival featured performances by art groups and the presence of women dressed in ao dai (traditional long robes), which added a charming touch to the event.

The carnival was opened with much fanfare with a lion and dragon dance by a troupe from Thanh Oai District, in which 600 people manipulated 30 dragons, 30 unicorns along with 30 drummers, symbolizing 30 districts and villages in the city. There were also songs and dances about Hanoi's autumn.

The opening was followed by a parade of performances with a flower float from Me Linh District, representing the floriculture areas outside Hanoi, and young people dressed in ao dai riding bicycles and tricycles decorated with flowers. Hanoi tourism companies joined the parade with flash mob dances.

There was also a catwalk called "Abundant Golden Season" performed by professional models, an artistic dance entitled "Abundant Golden Season" recreating the scene of rice harvesting, and the "Abundant Harvest of Tinh Hoa Bac Bo (Quintessence of Tonkin)" cultural show.

Artisans from My Duc district then performed puppet shows, those from Dong Anh district flew flute kites, while 110 Muong people from Quoc Oai and Thach That districts gave a gong performance.

According to Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, deputy director of the Hanoi Promotion Agency, the Hanoi Autumn Carnival is the highlight of the Hanoi Autumn Festival.

The program is elaborately prepared with the enthusiastic support of districts, organizations and tourism businesses.
