Exhibition on the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army

An exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese People's Army has opened in the pedestrian zone around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi.

The exhibition draws on Vietnam's advanced cultural and artistic expressions to highlight the role of military culture and art in the revolutionary cause of the nation, in national construction and defense, and in building a people's defense.

The Vietnam People's Army was founded on December 22, 1944, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, with the mission of safeguarding the nation's independence, freedom, and territorial integrity.

The army won many legendary exploits, including the victories of the revolution in August 1945, the Dien Bien Phu campaign in 1945 against French colonialism, and the Ho Chi Minh campaign in 1975 against American imperialism. All of them were decisive for national liberation and reunification.

In peacetime, the army has been actively involved in socio-economic development, helping to build infrastructure, promoting rural modernization, supporting poverty alleviation programs, and participating in disaster relief and search and rescue operations. Many military units have joined United Nations peacekeeping missions, enhancing Vietnam's international standing.
