Hanoi holds running tournament to warm-up SEA Games 31

Various outdoor sports and cultural activities will be organized within a month until the SEA Games 31 in the capital city to welcome the sporting event.

The running race around Hoan Kiem Lake is a highlight of the event titled “Hanoi 31-day countdown to SEA Games 31”, which will be held on April 11, according to a plan issued by the municipal People’s Committee.

The one-and-a-half-hour race will take place from 8 to 9.30am with the participation of around 3,000 runners who are athletes, coaches, artists, actors, public servants, party members and people from all walks of life.

The event “Hanoi 31-day countdown to SEA Games 31” aims to disseminate the importance of hosting the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam while calling for the people’s support and contributions to the success of the SEA Games 31.

The biggest regional sporting event is considered an important chance to promote the city’s image as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination among domestic and foreign tourists.

Themed “For a stronger South East Asia”, SEA Games 31 will run from May 12 to 23 in Hanoi and 11 neighboring localities, namely Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Bac Giang.

It will feature 40 sports with 526 medal events and is expected to attract around 10,000 athletes and officials from 11 Southeast Asian countries.
