Hanoi to grant localities meeting new-style rural area standards in 2022

The city will continue to exceed expectations in a variety of areas with the goal of accelerating the development of Vietnam's rural areas.

Hanoi will apply for accreditation of 63 communes as satisfying criteria for advanced new-style rural areas and 15 others for new-style rural areas in 2022, according to the Hanoi Office of New Rural Construction Program Coordination.

The list will be submitted to the chairman of the city people's committee for approval.

There are 63 communes that have meet the new advanced rural area standards, including three in Ba Vi District, four in Hoai Duc District, eight in Gia Lam District, three in My Duc District, fourteen in Thanh Tri District, two in Quoc Oai District, eight in Dong Anh District, five in Thanh Oai District, two in Chuong My District, three in Soc Son District, three in Ung Hoa District, one in Thach That District, two in Me Linh.

Other 15 communes meeting the requirements for new-style rural areas are the seven communes in Dan Phuong District, the three in Gia Lam District, the one in Hoai Duc District, the one in Dong Anh District, the one in Thanh Oai District, the one in Thach That District, and the one in Thuong Tin District.

In 2022, some 48 communes in Hanoi met advanced rural area standards, and the other 15  met new-style rural criteria.

To support the implementation of the National Program on New Style Rural Areas and Agricultural Restructuring to Improve the Living Standards of Rural Residents for 2021-2025, Hanoi has launched Program No. 4 over the past few years. Through its efforts, the city has succeeded in getting all its rural communes to meet the requirements for new-style areas.

A commune must meet 19 requirements in infrastructure, irrigation, energy, environment, income, education, healthcare, social security, and culture to be considered a new-style rural area. Nine of these are used to evaluate its annual performance.
