Hanoi’s mayor Chu Ngoc Anh was dismissed for his involvement in the Covid-19 test kit scam by Viet A Company when he was Minister of Technology and Science.

Anh was later dismissed as a deputy of the 16th municipal People's Council for 2021-2026, due to violations of Party and State regulations and deemed unworthy to be a people's representative.
The move came following a decision from the Party Central Committee yesterday to expel the Hanoi Chairman from the Communist Party for his involvement in the Covid-19 test kit scam by Viet A Company.
Viet A was alleged of inflating the price of its Covid-19 test kit by 45% before selling it to health facilities across the country for unfair gains.
