Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh shared the view today [March 5] at a meeting with the Belarusian Ambassador to Vietnam, Uladzimir Baravikou.

During the meeting, the ambassador expressed his delight to work in Vietnam, a friendly and open country in the Southeast Asian region. He also acknowledged the strong and dynamic development in the relations between the two countries and their respective capitals, Minsk and Hanoi.

"I am deeply touched by the warm hospitality of Hanoi, a city that is constantly evolving and vibrant," said Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou.

During the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Belarus to Vietnam, the two cities signed an agreement on bilateral friendship relations for 2024-2026. This serves as a solid foundation for advancing cooperation between the two capitals in the coming years, noted the Ambassador.

Currently, the Executive Committee of Minsk City has initiated the implementation of this agreement in 2024. In the near future, proposals outlining Minsk's event plans will be sent to Hanoi, said Baravikou.

The initiatives highlighted include organizing Minsk Cultural Day in Hanoi and Hanoi Cultural Day in Minsk. Additionally, the ambassador proposed the creation of symbolic structures and locations in each capital to strengthen the friendly ties. He emphasized interest in strengthening cooperation in various fields, such as sports, healthcare, and trade between Vietnam and Belarus.

Congratulating the ambassador for the impactful tenure in Vietnam, especially during the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Belarus, which achieved significant milestones and left a positive impression on the people of both nations about their profound friendship, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that Vietnam and Belarus are reliable and effective partners.

Thanh said Hanoi is actively translating the cooperation agreement with Minsk into concrete actions. This includes developing an annual plan for activities under the signed framework, with a focus on specific areas such as cultural exchanges and joint development.

Thanh agreed with the ambassador's proposals, stressing that they align with Hanoi's ongoing cooperation policy. He instructed the city's departments and agencies to immediately initiate the exchange delegation from Hanoi to Minsk, with a view to organizing the Hanoi Cultural Day in Minsk.

"Efforts will be made to explore other proposals for cultural exchanges, people-to-people interactions, and the promotion of trade," Thanh said.

The head of the Hanoi People's Committee also assured that all necessary conditions would be provided to support the activities of the Belarusian Embassy in the capital.
