Hanoi’s cultural festival highlights legal awareness for ethnic minority women

The Hanoi Women's Union held a cultural festival to raise awareness of gender equality and legal rights among ethnic minority women.

The cultural festival titled “Ethnic Minority Women Acting for Gender Equality” took place in Hanoi on November 15, in response to the Action Month for Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence Prevention in 2024.

In her remarks at the festival, Pham Thi My Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi Women's Union, highlighted the event's role in raising awareness about gender equality and legal compliance among ethnic minority women.

She said that the festival aims to strengthen the capacity of union members, promote gender equality, and address pressing issues faced by women and children in Hanoi's ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

The festival showcased the rich cultural heritage and traditional crafts of ethnic minorities in the capital. Fourteen art groups from ethnic minority communities in Ba Vi District performed programs on "Cultural Harmony of Ethnic Minorities" and "Women with Homeland and Nation".

Through this festival, ethnic minority women had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and share experiences, thereby fostering the promotion of gender equality and legal awareness in their communities.

The vice chairwoman of the Hanoi Women's Union said that they have been advising the city's People's Committee on the implementation of the project "Raising Awareness of Gender Equality and Legal Knowledge for Ethnic Minority Women (2022-2025)," which focuses on organizing model initiatives.

On November 14, the Hanoi People's Committee launched an Action Month for Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence Prevention. The campaign, themed "Ensuring Social Welfare, Empowerment, and Opportunities for Women and Girls," will run from November 15 to December 15.
