Hanoi's Dan Phuong presented certificate of new rural district

Dan Phuong district held a ceremony to receive a certificate recognising the locality as Hanoi`s first new rural district on October 28.

Attending the event were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh, Head of the Steering Committee for the national target programme on building new-style rural areas; Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh; Permanent Deputy Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang and Deputy Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Tran Xuan Viet.

Dan Phuong has been one of the 10 districts nationwide recognised by the Prime Minister as a modern rural areas.
Over the past four years, Dan Phuong district has had 13 out of 15 communes fulfilling all criteria of the programme.
After implementing the Government’s new-style rural building programme, the district has expanded transport system, upgraded houses and synchronous planning of urban areas, craft villages and small industrial and handicraft clusters.
The district has converted rice cultivation to growing other crops that have higher economic value.
With six industrial and small handicraft complexes built, the district is home to over 500 small-and medium-sized businesses, drawing about 6,200 workers with average incomes of 26.5 million VND per person per year.
It has invested in building six inter-communal routes and nearly 150 kilometres of roads with total investments over 450 billion VND.
The district has gained many achievements in culture and society. Dan Phuong has been the first district of the city which has 100% of primary schools meeting national standards. 100% of communes in the district met the national criteria for health.
Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh hailed Hanoi and Dan Phuong in particular for their achievements in the field.

Hanoi leads the country in the number of new rural communes with 129 out of 386 communes fulfilling all criteria of the programme, he noted.
However, he urged the capital in general, Dan Phuong district in particular to build on its achievements and strive to recognise 75% of its communes as new rural ones by 2020.
At the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang proposed Dan Phuong district continue to remain its achievements, enhance criteria, as well as develop concentrated agricultural production models in order to boost agricultural production values.
It is also necessary to preserve the green, clean and beautiful environment in rural areas, Hang added.
