K-pop Lovers Festival 2023 to stir up Old Quarter

Vietnamese and Korean artists will fete the public with lively K-pop dance performances at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square this weekend.

The performance of dancer Koo Young Back - choreographer of K-pop idols such as EXO, and SNSD, among others - promises to thrill audiences in the capital this weekend.

According to the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, the K-pop Lovers Festival 2023 will take place from 9 am to 10 pm on May 13 at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in the pedestrian area of Hoan Kiem Lake.

Two of the young audience members' favorite vocalists, Duc Phuc, and Duong Hoang Yen, will perform in the evening art program alongside Koo Young Back, a well-known dancer from South Korea's 1Million Dance Studio.

K-pop Lovers Festival 2023 is the biggest festival of the year for K-pop fans in Vietnam. The public can experience various activities such as K-pop random dance, K-pop flash mobs, and playing K-pop games.

Accompanied by the Korea Tourism Organization in Vietnam, visitors will experience wearing traditional costumes (Hanbok), playing Korean folk games, and learning about Korean tourism.

At the end of the program, the most beautiful and impressive group of Vietnamese students dancing to K-pop will have the opportunity to participate in the K-pop Cover Dance Festival World Final in South Korea.

Choi Seung Jin, director of the Korean Cultural Center, said Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square is the central area of the capital Hanoi, a popular destination for young people to come and share their passion for dance every weekend. Therefore, the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam has been organizing events here since 2019.

"This year, K-pop Lovers Festival comes to its 10th edition, we plan to hold a festival with a variety of activities to celebrate not only K-pop fans but also a large number of people in the capital and international tourists. Everyone can directly experience and feel Korean culture," said Choi Seung Jin.

The program is completely free. Details will be posted on the Korean Cultural Center's website or Facebook page.
