Lao President visits Vietnam to cement friendship

Vietnam and Laos maintain their friendship, which is described uniquely among countries.

General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith begins a two-day visit to Vietnam this morning [June 28].

Senior officials greeting the Lao president and his wife at the Noi Bai International Airport included permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee Le Minh Hung, Head of the CPV’s External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung, Head of the President Office Le Khanh Hai, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, and Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang.

 Vo Van Thuong, the permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Secretariat, welcomes the Lao President.

The official reception given to the Laotian general secretary will be held at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.

A conversation between the two parties’ general secretaries will take place after the welcoming ceremony. Thongloun Sisoulith and the CPV’s General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will attend the signing of several agreements.

The visit carries a “special meaning” as described by the two countries’ media. It affirms the friendship and solidarity of the two countries and two peoples, facilitating the implementation of agreements signed for 2021 and the following years.
