Large influx of tourists to Hanoi during Tet holiday

More than 100,000 foreign travelers had visited Hanoi for the Lunar New Year of the Dragon.

Hanoi welcomed 653,000 visitors during the 7-day Tet Holiday, an increase of 21.6% over last year. Among them, foreign arrivals more than doubled compared to the same period last year, with 103,000 visitors from Korea, China, Taiwan, the United States, India, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.

The figures were revealed in a report by the city's Department of Tourism, in which domestic visits increased by 12.2%, with 550,000 people visiting the capital. Tourism revenue is estimated at VND2.35 trillion (US$89.3 million), up 35.1% year-on-year.

In addition to Hanoi's Old Quarter, visitors to the capital city also enjoy exploring famous nearby tourist attractions, including Duong Lam Ancient Village, Perfume Pagoda, Quang Phu Cau Incense Making Village, and others.

During the last seven-day holiday, Perfume (Huong) Pagoda attracted the largest number of visitors with 80,600 people (on the 4th day of Tet or February 13 alone, the religious site welcomed 35,000 visitors); the Temple of Literature welcomed more than 106,000 travelers to the relic site; the Thang Long Imperial Citadel hosted more than 48,700 visitors; the Co Loa relic site attracted 25,000 visitors; and the Duong Lam Ancient Village tourist destination received about 15,000 visitors.

About 1,200 domestic and foreign tourists visited Quang Phu Cau Incense Making Village, one of the most popular attractions in the outskirts of Hanoi. Meanwhile, 3,000 people toured the Museum of Ethnology, 31,143 people visited Hanoi Zoo, 10,391 people came to Ba Vi National Park, and 18,500 people traveled to three tourist attractions in Gia Lam District, namely Bat Trang Ceramic Village and Duong Xa and Phu Dong communes.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, from February 8 to 14, the department conducted a series of inspections at some tourist attractions, including the Temple of Literature, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Ngoc Son Temple and the area around the iconic Hoan Kiem Lake, to ensure the safety of tourists.

In addition, through the hotline 1800556896, Hanoi also provides tourists with information on routes, tourist attractions, instructions on hotels, transportation, shopping... as well as other services and agendas of cultural events that took place in the city during the occasion.
