More tourist sites to provide free WiFi in Hanoi

The city is offering free Wi-Fi access at 25 tourist spots with the support of private businesses.

This year, Hanoi will provide free WiFi for nine tourist sites with the aim of bringing the best experiences for travelers when visiting the capital.

Information was announced at the signing ceremony between the Hanoi Departments, of Information and Communication and Tourism on improving the efficiency of communications, promotion and application of information technology for the 2021-25 period. 

As of 2021, the city deploys free Wi-Fi at 34 tourist spots including some areas in the Old Quarter, One Pillar Pagoda, Hoa Lo prison relic, 48 Hang Ngang street relic, Hanoi Opera House, Vietnam Military History Museum, the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, and the Temple of Literature.

Speaking at the ceremony on March 24 in Hanoi, Nguyen Thanh Liem, Director of the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications suggested that the Hanoi Department of Tourism will take part in the job of disseminating about the capital.

The municipal Department of Information and Communications will support the municipal tourism sector in the process of the digital transformation.

Agreeing with the proposal of Liem, Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism said that the her agency will organize a number of activities to stimulate demand and promote the city’s tourism industry.

A biggest tourism stimulus festival is scheduled for April 16-18 at the Ly Thai To Statue area around Hoan Kiem lake, Hanoi. "Local travel businesses will provide travel packages with the competitive price - even cheaper than that residents booked," Giang said.
