New eight-lane road connects three districts in Hanoi

This is a section of the total 2.9-km Nguyen Van Huyen road project with the starting point intersecting with Cau Giay road and the endpoint meeting Do Nhuan street, North Tu Liem district.

The expanded Nguyen Van Huyen road with eight lanes connecting Hoang Quoc Viet Street in Cau Giay District to the West Lake West urban area runs through Cau Giay, Tay Ho and North Tu Liem districts.

The 627-meter road was opened to traffic last June after four years of construction. The starting point of the route intersects with Hoang Quoc Viet Street while the endpoint meets the 40-meter road in the urban area of West Lake West.

The road is 50 meters wide with 4 lanes on each side, of which two are for four-wheel vehicles and two for motorcycles. Over 600-meter section of Nguyen Van Huyen road connecting West Lake West urban area to Hoang Quoc Viet Street is opened to traffic, facilitating people’s circulation.

The pavements along this road which are decorated with a number of flower beds are four meters wide.

The trees are planted and lighting systems are installed. The road is shaded mainly by small-leaf Terminalia Catappa or Taiwanese Terminalia catappa.

The construction of most of the sewer and drainage system has not been completed and the manholes remain without covers.

The median strips are five meters wide with some sections decorated with flowers and green grass.

Within the urban area, two directions of the lengthened Nguyen Van Huyen road are divided by a concrete-made median strip.

The road also connects with some routes in the western urban area of West Lake.

The expanded Nguyen Van Huyen road runs through three wards namely Nghia Do (Cau Giay district), Xuan La (Tay Ho district) and Xuan Dinh (North Tu Liem district). This is a section of the total 2.9km project with starting point intersects with Cau Giay road to the endpoint meets Do Nhuan street, North Tu Liem district.

In 2015, the 560 meter section connecting Cau Giay with Nguyen Khanh Toan Street was opened to traffic with a total investment of more than VND969 million (US$41.9 million). As of 2018, the 1.7-kilometer urban section within the urban area of West Lake West that links to Do Nhuan Street was also completed, but the road has not been opened to traffic.
