Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh touches down in China for Expo and summit

Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister visited Vietnamese booths and had meetings and discussions on cooperation with high-level Chinese officials and businessmen.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived in Nanning, Guangxi, China today (September 16) to attend the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS).

The two events will be held on September 16 and 17 to deepen ASEAN-China relations in all areas.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's agenda includes delivering the opening speech and visiting Vietnamese booths at the expo. He will also meet with China's top leaders and enterprises from neighboring countries and other nations.

Prime Minister Chinh's participation in the Expo and Summit is a testament to Vietnam's policy of promoting multilateral cooperation with regional and neighboring countries.
As ASEAN and China are important partners to Vietnam, it is the policy of the Vietnamese Government to promote relations in politics, trade and investment, and people-to-people exchanges and take the relations to new heights.

The CAEXPO and CABIS take place in the context that ASEAN-China bilateral trade has reached US$722 billion, and China has remained ASEAN's largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years.

At the 26th ASEAN-China Summit held in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 6, the two sides agreed to advance economic, trade and investment relations, stabilize supply chains, enhance business capacity in both markets, and expand cooperation in other areas such as digital transformation, digital economy, climate response, energy transition, and green growth.

In his speech at the summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expected ASEAN and China to become one of the largest and most important comprehensive strategic partners for peace and mutual growth.

To achieve this, the Prime Minister said that ASEAN and China need to build the region into the world's economic growth hub, make the best use of their geographical advantages, and improve the quality of economic, trade, and investment relations.

He also called on the Chinese government to further open its domestic market to Asean agricultural exports.
