With the theme of “Embracing Constraints”, the annual art event showcases the endless creativity of Vietnamese designers through eye-catching designs, carrying the message of environmental protection and sustainable development.

The event's opening ceremony will be held at Thai Hoc Yard, with the exhibition of the Designed by VietNam Contest at Tien Duong House and Design Fair Vietnam in front of Giam Garden, Temple of Literature, on the evening of Saturday, September 23.

After a week full of activities, the Closing Ceremony and Awards Ceremony will be held on September 19.

This year, VietNam Design Week will introduce the Design of the Year 2023 Award to recognize the best product designs in Vietnam. In addition, the Design Fair Vietnam will be held at Vuon Giam, a unique architectural and landscape space.

The fair will feature nearly 50 domestic and international design and production companies and organizations, with over 100 booths in various fields such as furniture and exterior, furniture and decoration, handicrafts, fashion, media, and more. These booths will display products carefully selected by the organizing committee.

At the event's announcement ceremony on September 14, Le Viet Ha, Chairman of VietNam Design Group and Co-Chairman of the Organizing Commit VietNam Design Week, has gradually become an effective platform for connecting the contemporary design community with traditional handicraft villages nationwide.

"Starting this year, in addition to the Designed by VietNam competition, two other key activities have been added: the Design Fair Vietnam, which connects designers, manufacturers, and enterprises to bring well-designed products to the market, and the Design of the Year Award, which recognizes outstanding product designs," he added.

Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature, shared that "with the previous and upcoming activities of VietNam Design Week, especially the Design Fair in Vuon Giam, the public will see their love for Hanoi and appreciation of beauty satiated".

The fourth Designed by VietNam competition with the theme "Embracing Constraints" was launched at the end of April 2023 and received 150 entries. The advisory board selected 31 designs for the exhibition and final stage. Among them are 10 public toilet designs for the nearby Hoan Kiem Lake, which fall under a specific industry theme.

Vietnam Design Week is the first and largest annual design event in the country, organized by VietNam Design Group, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts (VICAS), the Copyright Office of Vietnam (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), and Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports. Its main objective is to identify and honor outstanding Vietnamese products and designers.

The program includes various activities such as the Designed by Vietnam competition, Design of the Year Award, Design Fair Vietnam, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and more. These activities aim to promote and support the growth of the design industry in Vietnam and the country's cultural and creative sectors. In addition, the event seeks to enhance the value of Vietnamese creative products in domestic and international markets.
