Vietnamese Army wins two bronze medals at Army Games 2021

This is a remarkable achievement of the Vietnamese People’s Army in the world’s largest military games.

The Vietnamese team has finished third in two competitions entitled “Safe Route” and “Meridian” within the framework of the International Army Games 2021.

In the final of the “Safe Route” category held in Russia’s Tyumen province on August 29, Vietnam’s engineering team ranked third, with a time of 55 minutes and 40 seconds.

The strongly experienced opponents of the Vietnam team were Uzbekistan, Belarus, and the host country of Russia.

Russia completed the competition after 42 minutes and 15 seconds, winning the gold medal and Uzbekistan won the silver medal with a time of 44 minutes and four seconds.

On the same day, a solemn closing ceremony of the “Meridian” competition was held at Patriot Park in the outskirt of Moscow, Russia. The winner of the competition was the team of the Russian Federation while the one from Belarus took second place. The third place was shared by the teams of topographers from China and Vietnam.

According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Bui Yen Tinh, head of the Vietnam meridian team, his squad performed much better on some professional indicators compared to when they rehearsed at home.

Throughout the competition, military topographers competed in performing exercises in army tactical shooting with a machine gun, orienteering using a compass, as well as in special issues of geodesy, cartography, and geoinformatics.

The event of “Meridian” was held for the first time at the Army Games this year and included three stages of “Azimuth”, “Topographic quadrathlon”, and “Fire training”.

Military topographers from Belarus, China, Vietnam, Iran, and Laos took part in the competition.

Earlier, Vietnam’s naval fleet also won the silver medal at the “Sea Cup” competition at the Army Games 2021

The annual military sporting event is organized by the Ministry of Defense of Russia Russian Ministry of Defense from August 22 to September 4. Vietnam People’s Army competes in 15 sports.

In addition, Vietnam hosts two competitions of “Sniper Frontier” and “Emergency Area. The opening ceremony of the games in Vietnam is scheduled to take place early this week at the National Military Training Center No.4, Chuong My District, Hanoi.
