Writing contest for Wikipedia users: Chance to explore Polish culture

The culture of Poland is closely connected with its intricate thousand-year history.

Listed as one of the best European destinations with its well-protected nature and distinct culture, Poland is still concealing charm that is worth exploring.

 Poland is unique for its century-long culture

For Vietnamese youth who are eager to explore the new land, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Hanoi will give you a chance to make your dreams come true.

With the 2nd edition of the Contest for Wikipedia Users in the field of Polish culture, candidates would be awarded the first prize of US$2000, the second, third, and distinction prizes of US$1000, US$700, and US$100, respectively, according to the embassy.

Without limit on the number of Wikipedia entries, contributors can write as many as possible about Polish art, music, cinema, literature, architecture, theatre, dance, design, video games, etc.

Candidates must be Vietnamese citizens who are at least 18 years old are encouraged to contribute articles in Vietnamese with each consisting of at least 1,000 characters, including spaces, before the deadline that will fall on October 31, 2020.

Each participant is required to register on the website www.yeubalan.com and write as many articles as possible about Polish culture on the Wikipedia encyclopedia page and post links on the above website.

The first edition of the contest took place in June 2019 with the topic Geography of Poland, attracting more than 1,800 articles after more than two months of launching.

Initiated by Deputy Head of Mission of the Polish Embassy in Hanoi Maciej Duszyński, the contest is expected to help young people know more about Poland.

Regarding the number of users and numbers of edits, Polish version of Wikipedia has it so high that it is in top five worldwide, while Vietnamese version is almost the same.

For that reason, Ambassador Wojciech Gerwel said Wikipedia is an important and recognized source of knowledge and a universal tool for popularization of knowledge.
