Following the deal, Amazon would support Vietnamese enterprises, especially small and medium ones, to access global market and promote brands on Amazon.com.
Additionally, Amazon Global Selling program also includes training courses for local SMEs on e-commerce, export opportunities, and necessary skills to startup business on Amazon’s online retail system.
Bernard Tay, Amazon’s regional director or Southeast Asia, said the country has a variety of goods and products, including handicrafts, apparel, leather products and footwear, among others, which could easily be sold on Amazon’s platform.
Regarding the language barrier that could restrict Vietnamese enterprises from accessing global e-market places, Amazon Global Selling has launched a Vietnamese version of its official website and a Facebook fanpage to support Vietnamese users creating account on Amazon.
Tay expected the cooperation between his business and Vietnamese enterprises and Amazon would help them promote their brands on the world stage.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said e-commerce is vital for trade promotion in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Thang added that the government is committed to supporting both local and foreign investors looking to invest in Vietnam’s trade and industry sectors.
Vu Ba Phu, VIETTRADE’s director, said that the cooperation with Amazon is a major step for Vietnamese goods accessing global markets.
As of present, 98% of a total 700,000 enterprises in Vietnam are of small and medium size, however, they are facing challenges in exporting goods, especially in accessing information, market forecast, competitiveness and network expansion, Phu added.
Amazon’s program presents Vietnam’s enterprises a huge opportunity through its access to over 300 million customers, he stressed.
