The project is carried out by a team of three scientists, led by Nguyen Quoc Hung from the Nano and Energy Center under the Hanoi National University’s Natural Sciences University.

The paint, whose name is the combination of “RAdiation” and “REflection”, strengthens the cooling capacity for outdoor surfaces.

In an experiment, the high-tech product may reflect the sunlight and the heat, and keep the house's indoor temperature equal to the air temperature in the shade.

Cooling paint also increases the duration of outdoor surfaces as the surface coats almost absorb no heat.

The scientists may produce a maximum of one ton of 10-kilogram paint packages daily.

The product is expected to become widely used soon for families in urban areas where the sun's heat is often high during the day.

Runners-up of the Techfest Hanoi 2023 contest included three-second places, three third places and five consolation awards.

The contest was part of the Techfest Hanoi 2023, aiming to encourage startups and innovative companies to grow in the Capital Region and Hanoi, raise public awareness about innovative projects, and assist project developers in realizing their initiatives.

The contest received many proposals in a wide range of sectors, including information and communication, financial technology (fintech), artificial intelligence technology, food processing, community services, and eco-friendly production.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, Nguyen Quoc Ha, said Techfest Hanoi 2023 has cultivated the Capital Region’s startup and innovation community.

During the event, he said participants and delegates have increased their understanding of technology, digital transformation, and enhancement of capabilities for the community’s entities.

Ha said the successes achieved during Techfest Hanoi 2023 prove how vital science, technology, and innovation are to the growth of the Capital Region and Hanoi. Science, technology and innovation are the core driving factors for all socio-economic activities, in which people and enterprises are the center.

"In the coming time, the department hopes receive from guidances from the Ministry of Science and Technology and municipal authorities and set up better collaboration with regional provinces and cities,” he said.

“With guidelines of the Government, ministries and municipal authorities, the department expects that business connectivity, technology transfer and other cooperative activities will bolster the growth of the Capital Region, and strengthen the ties between local startup and innovation communities.”

Techfest Hanoi 2023 began on October 12 at the National Convention Center. During three days, the event featured exhibitions of innovative products and projects, and several working sessions between enterprises, startups, universities and research institutes, and incubators.

The Techfest also consisted of two forums and two workshops on hastening the development of innovation and startups, relations between enterprises and innovation, enhancement of logistics and connectivity, and the wrap-up of the innovation contest.
