Covid-19: Hanoi activates GPS app to monitor people in isolation

The GPS application will monitor coronavirus-infected people and those who are in concentrated quarantine facilities or self-isolation at home.

Hanoi’s government has launched Hanoi SmartCity app to provide a tool for its citizens to monitor areas with high risk of Covid-19 infection, Baodautu.vn reported.

People can download and use the app from March 18. The app software was ordered by the municipal government and built in two weeks.

The app will monitor Covid-19-infected people and those who are in concentrated quarantine facilities or self-isolation at home and even people who have been cured but still need medical monitoring.

Through the GPS and the tagging application, the central operating center is able to control the locations under lockdown.

The person in home isolation is requested not to go beyond a 30-meter range from home (the range will be shortened to 20 meters in the time to come). If trespassing the permissible distance, the operating center and the tagged person will be notified immediately.

Besides, the tagging app will monitor the health status of quarantined people and allow them to declare epidemiological routes.

Besides, the app provides information on the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Hanoi, in Vietnam and in the world, map of the disease situation in the city, search for high-risk areas, and report to the city about situations related to the pandemic.

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung requested the municipal People's Committee Office to draw up a list of people under medical surveillance and have them install the app from March 19.

People can download and install the Hanoi SmartCity app on the AppStore and Google Play.
