Deputy PM received newly-accredited US Ambassador

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh hosted a reception in Hanoi for newly-accredited US Ambassador to Vietnam - Mr. Ted Osius.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to work closely to organize activities celebrating the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.

The host and guest reviewed the progress of bilateral ties since the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership was established in 2013, while discussing coordination in finalizing negotiations for the Trans-Pacific Partnership as scheduled.

Deputy PM Minh lauded Ambassador Osius’ efforts to foster bilateral relations so far. The Deputy PM proposed that the US diplomat work with the Vietnamese side to speed up cooperation in the framework of bilateral comprehensive partnership for mutual benefit as well as for peace and stability in the region.

Ambassador Osius pledged to bolster the partnership between the two countries, especially in trade, investment, education, and interpersonal contacts, to make the existing ties more effective and practical.
